Sarajevo Olympic Week (SOW) is a multidisciplinary platform dedicated to revitalizing the Olympic spirit through the fusion of sports, culture, and creative industries. Organized by Udruženje Altair, a Sarajevo-based agency and NGO, SOW serves as a bridge between the glorious history of the 1984 Winter Games and the vibrant, modern energy of today’s youth.
We are a team of visionaries, event professionals, and cultural activists who believe that the Olympic legacy is not a monument to the past, but a living, breathing catalyst for the future.
Our mission is to transform Sarajevo into a seasonal global hub where the "Olympic 365" philosophy comes to life. We strive to:
- Empower the Youth: Through our volunteer networks and educational workshops, we provide young people with the skills to lead.
- Celebrate Culture: From electronic music stages on the peaks of Bjelašnica to art visions in the city center, we showcase the best of regional and international talent.
- Promote Sports for All: Whether it's professional ice hockey or amateur curling schools, we make winter sports accessible to every generation.
Sarajevo is a proud member of the global Olympic family, and Sarajevo Olympic Week is the key vehicle for maintaining that international connection.
Official Standing: As an active stakeholder in the Olympic movement, we work closely with local and international institutions. We are proud to operate within the framework of the World Union of Olympic Cities, ensuring that Sarajevo remains a permanent fixture on the world’s sporting and cultural map.
Through our strategic partnerships—including the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Visit Sarajevo and many more —we ensure that our projects meet the highest global standards of transparency, inclusivity, and organizational excellence.
The SOW ecosystem is built on four core pillars:
SOW Entertainment: Bringing world-class electronic and pop music to the Olympic mountains.
SOW Sports: Revitalizing ice sports and outdoor activities in the heart of the city.
SOW Education: Facilitating high-level dialogue on sports diplomacy, culture, and environmental protection.
SOW Art: Providing a canvas for young graphic designers and visual artists to reinterpret the Olympic symbols.
Sarajevo 1984 was a moment of unity for the world. We believe that by celebrating that same spirit through Sarajevo Olympic Week, we can drive tourism, foster regional reconciliation, and inspire a new generation to strive for excellence.
We don’t just remember history—we create it.
